Using Google Apps as your Mail Server

What is this ??? May be some of you thinks this will spend a lot of money. No! You will receive a free service by using Google Apps. But for this post I will explain how to use the Google Apps Standard Edition (FREE). By using Google Apps, you can manage your email for your domain, documents, contacts, Google App Engine, chat, mobile, and sites.

Why this service is needed? If you need set up email service in your domain, you can use this service for FREE. You can sign up for this service at this link.

Steps for sign up on Google Apps:

1. Follow the sign up link (above).
2. Select Administrator option and insert your domain name.
3. Provides required data for the next step.
4. And click continue button.
5. Insert the Administrator username, password, and the other required information.
6. Continue with the set up.

Steps for configuration Google Apps (to verify that you own yourdomain.com):

1. In the welcome page it will show two options,
   • Upload an HTML file to yourdomain.com. (recommended)
   • CNAME records are created with your domain host.
2. If there is an instruction appear in the welcome page. You can select option “upload an HTML file to yourdomain.com“, because it is too simple and you will not get bother in your web hosting.
3. Click continue button.
4. Google Apps will give you some instructions for you, and you must complete this instruction before continue to the next step.
5. If you have done with the instruction in the number four(4), click “I’ve completed the steps above” button.
6. The next page will give you an option to Launch Guide or Skip this guide. You can select what do you want.

Steps for activate and configuration Email service:

1. Go to your Dashboard menu.
2. Find the Service settings for your Email service.
3. Click the “Activate email” link under Email service.
4. Follow the instructions.
5. If you have experienced in configuration hosting and domain you will fluently to configure it.
